Asif Khan remembered!

Losing our dear friend - Asif Khan (May Allah grant him Janat)
Jan 21st 2010 we suddenly and unexpectedly lost our long-time friend and great supporter & member of BayCC family - Asif Khan.
Asif was the ultimate community advocate; he was enthusiastic, creative, and fiercely loyal. Through the years, Asif was responsible for helping countless individuals and communities organizations with his tireless efforts and energy. He was dedicated to the San Ramon community, SRVIC, San Ramon School District PTA and most of all BayCC.
Anyone who has interacted with Asif knew him as an individual possessing a rare combination of kindness, intellect and ceaseless positive energy. It was far too early for him to leave this world and we already miss him dearly. It was a true honor to have Asif as part of our team and as our friend.
With a heavy heart,
The BayCC Members
Asif Sahib - We will miss you dearly:(
What a great loss for our community and BayCC and especially to his family!

With very deep sorrow I am sharing this news with that our BELOVED friend ASIF KHAN had a heart attack at around 1:00 AM, 911 called and we rushed him to the Emergency but he passed away in the hospital.
His Namaz-e-Janazah will be on Friday after the Friday prayer most probably in SRVIC. I’ll keep you update.
Make dua for his Mughfirah. Kindly pass this information to all your friends.

I am shocked and cannot believe what I just read. Asif bhai has been our beloved friend for many years. It is very emotional to even right this email about him. Our prayers are with him and his family members.

I am shattered and can’t even believe my eyes what I am reading. I am so sad that I am not there to offer him a “kandha”. May allah place him in Jannat and provide solace to his family and friends. I can’t describe the emotions all I have is his smiling face in my eyes.

This is just unbelievable. We all say that life is uncertain, but when it hits us in the face, it shocks us.
All I can think of right now is that Asif Bhai remained not-out during the last Sunday’s cricket game. He was supposed to bat again this weekend. ……..
This is terrible news. May Allah shower His blessings upon our friend and bless his family with courage and patience.
Latief
This is very sad for all of us. i was just talking to Zeeshan and saying how we have been playing with Asif Bhai for all these years and it’s the first time someone so close has passed away.

All,
This is a great shock. I have known Asif for 8+ years. We played cricket together last Sunday and everything looked good. He batted so well.
Life is a bubble in the end we all have to go back to our creator. Still can’t believe it that Asif is no longer with us.
Innalillahi- wa-Innaillahi Rajiun.

A Gentle Giant Personality
I read some of the saddest news on my way from Gloucester to London on a train. My mind could not even register Shahid Bhai’s email and I had to read it several times and by that time shock had settled in. My immediate reaction was to call my wife and inform her, upon hearing my voice she immediately sensed something was wrong and when she heard the news she gasped in shock. Since that time I can only think of Asif Bhai and his gentle giant of a personality. He has left a vast gap in our community which will never be filled. I have known Asif Bhai since the time he moved to California. I still remember it was at Rafey’s house and as usual we had lively conversation about the affairs of politics and cricket. Asif Bhai had a bigger than life laugh, he would smile and shake his head; thats the face burnt in my memory. When we started the cricket club Asif Bhai became one of the early members. He enjoyed his batting and leg side pull was his favorite shot. He had a gentle walk but real spark in his step. Always the first to volunteer. I remember when Shahid Abbasi went for Hajj, Asif Bhai stepped in to help Shahid Bhai’s business and when I saw him at Eid he was minding Shahid Bhai’s stall, I asked him Asif Bhai “kiya ker rahey hain” and with his patent smile he replied ” aray bhai yeh hamara farz banta hey”. If you lived in the community you knew Asif Bhai, he was either volunteering at the school, at the masjid, for the cricket club or any where help was needed. A gem of a person, you knew if you needed help Asif Bhai will be there. He would be anxiously engaged in many conversations we had during our Windemere Potlucks, he was a regular presence and if he was not there you know you were missing him.
His words for me ‘aray Shoaib Akhter” araha hey rings in my ear and moistens my eyes. How he would encourage and pat me on the back during matches. I remember during one match I was getting hot under the collar and he sensed that I was not happy, during the change he slowly walked up to me and softly told me “aglay over mein ser per marna iss k” I cracked up and the heat evaporated. Always the peace maker he was a great person. I remember when Jibran passed his high school how proud he was his feet could not land on the ground he was a proud papa who did a wonderful job raising his kids with love. Its a fact that he will live on in our memory for a long time to come, it will be impossible not to miss him whether it be cricket field or masjid or potluck or any other community event.
Asif Bhai you have left us behind, why were you in such a hurry? I don’t know what I am writing but I am just writing because thats all I can do. All I can ask the almighty that you have taken a wonderful and loving person from amongst us; now I pray please provide him with the best of your heaven.
In immense sorrow,
Azher

I recieve this sad new in Hosuton, by one of my friend. I wouldn’t believe. I had to ask him 4-5 times to confirm; which shahid, lived in Windamer, Dr.Tehmina’s husband,…. …
I have known him for al most 8 years. We watched many many cricket matches together, many on his house. Very welcoming. When ever he subscribed to matches, always offered. Played 100s of matches together. I think I was the one, who told him about the cricket in San Ramon at Coyote Creek School ground, and he started coming, very regularly.
Very friendly, compromising, always looking for ways to resolve the conflict.
May Allah give him very high level in Jannah.

In a week that I lost my own beloved uncle, it saddens even more to hear this extremely shocking news. Although I did not know him as well as most of the members of BayCC, I will forever remember Asif bhai for his ever smiling face, his occasional wicket-keeping and the bowling advice he would sometimes give me. May Allah bless him with a place in Janah and give his family the courage to deal with this immense loss.

A huge blow to our Baycc community. This is not fair to his very young kids.

Like everyone else, I am in shock! Almost 24 hrs have passed by and I still can’t reconcile to the fact that Asif Bhai is not amongst us anymore.
Some four and a half years ago, Asif Bhai introduced BayCC to me and kept insisting that I come and play cricket with them. I don’t think that I had thanked him enough for introducing BayCC to me.
Asif Bhai was a kind hearted man with full of energy and a desire to help mankind. He was a gem of a person and we shall truly miss him dearly.
May Allah grant him maghfirah and the higehest place in Jannah, Ameen.
Jibran, you should be very very proud, all of us feel fortunate that he was our friend and will always be there for you. I have not met a more sincere and giving person in my life. When we moved to San Ramon 4 years ago, he took us under his wing and introduced us to everything that is good about this community, from srvic to baycc to isha prayers, to volunteering at our kids schools, the list goes on and on… Rakshan and I truly considered him an older brother and will always miss him. May Allah grant him maghfirat and give all of us sabar.
Ameen,
Farooq
Azher bhai - that was so true what you wrote about Asif bhai. He was an honest, caring and easiest going person that I have met. I still cant believe that he is not among us anymore. 2 days ago, On my way to cafetaria, I heard someone called my name and I looked back and saw Asif bhai. I went and shook his hand. he was on the phone and told me that he is here to meet someone. Then he called me and we talked for few minutes. he congrated me on my captainship and wished me luck..
I know how much he loved to play cricket and specially wicket keeping. He also loves his country and was inquiring me about the situation in Pakistan since I just came back from home. He was very worried about the situation there. He ensured that his kids has the same love for his country. We all saw his family volunteered in earthquake affected areas in Pakistan during 2006.
I will truly miss his absense in coming games especially Mini-tournaments. May Allah rest him in peace and give patience to his family in this tough time.
Please share your memories of him with us…..
Atif
Innah lillahe wa innah ilahey rajioon.. May Allah grant him jannah.. still can’t believe this has happened..
I never thought that I would ever write or read such emails. How many times in our lives do we read/write obituaries about such incredible personalities. I am so saddened by his loss that it has taken me a whole day trying to get my thoughts on an email. He was such a wonderful friend and human being. Whenever I around him, he made me feel like he was my big brother, and he would put his hand around my shoulders and give me a huge smile. He was the first one to call me when there was a loss in my family give me his support.
His family is in our prayers, thoughts, and all our support is with them. May Allah (SWT) grant him forgiveness, may his soul rest in peace and he be granted the highest place in Jannah, Ameen.
Aizaz
When I got up this morning it was still hard for me to believe that I would be attending Asif bhai Jinazah today.Last Sunday he was with us playing cricket in his usual good mood.
A great human being with a great heart.May Allah give him Jannat and Sabr to his family.
Asif Bhai we will always miss you in BayCC. I will never forget that he was the first person I spoke to him about the club and desire of joining it.Then also I remember he was busy doing scoring for the team and giving me good feed back about the club.

Dear Friends SRCA & TCA
It is our profound honor to write this thank you note for the sympathies and well wishes you have showered us with during this very difficult time. Asif Khan’s untimely passing was utterly a shock not just to his family but to us his extended cricket family. The support that we have received from all of you embodies the character Asif Khan possessed, he was a gentle man, well respected and loved by everyone he touched. His calm demeanor, easy personality and unshaken belief of honesty is a rare find in these trying times. Asif was a big brother to us and he always acted as one. We the BAYCC wanted to thank you for your kind words, wishes and prayers from the bottom of our hearts.
